Prepping is not just for a SHTF senario when the world comes burning down around our ears, like post Sandy/Katrina, or war reaching our shores. How about making life livable if you lose your job? How much are those bills you pay every month? What can you rapidly remove or reduce from your daily life to make your monthly deficits affordable on an unemployment check and/or with freelance income?

Brewing beer is actually quite easy and, its a free (as in beer) pastime. Yes the supplies might cost money and time, but the methodology is as old as civilization; thusly public domain. The basics are simple and provide a means of making good beer that you can enjoy, share and trade.

 There are many reasons to plant a hedge row instead of building a fence such as:

  • Using thorny plants such as Firethorn (Pyracantha coccinea) can be a security feature
  • In most cases you do not need a building permit like you do with a fence
  • You can leave the public side untrimmed for a more covert appearance
  • With the right plants they attract wildlife like rabbits
  • Plants create oxygen and abate runoff
  • Plants are cheaper to buy and install yourself

How do you communicate privately? This is a problem that has plagued mankind for centuries and has entered a new era of need with the advent of texting, instant messaging and mobile phones. For all intents and purposes, all of that data is currently transmitted in the clear. Government servers get split feeds direct from the phone company. Texting is not even encrypted at all and law enforcement can get transcripts of messages. So how does the average person protect themselves and exercise their right to privacy?
